Zero Conditional
English has 4 kinds of conditionals: namely Zero,First,Second, and Third conditionals. In addition, there are also combinations of several conditionals or mixed conditionals. On this occasion,we will discuss Zero Conditionals.
Zero conditional or conditional sentence type 0 is the conditional clause that is used when the result / consequence of the condition is always materialized because it is a scientific fact or general truth which is a habitual activity.
When Do We Use Zero Conditionals?
Zero Conditionals is used to express:
General habits Permanent facts / truths.
Example : if I am tired,I go to bed early. (Shows things that are usually done)
if you heat water to 100 ° C, it boils. (Stating the fact that water boils at 100 ° C)
The two examples above take place in general without referring to a time, either past or future.
How to Make Zero Conditionals?
The structure of the Zero Conditionals is as follows:
If + present simple, present simple or Present simple if + present simple In essence, a clause that uses an if is a requirement that other clauses must meet in order to occur.
Examples are as follows:
If you put food into the freezer, it freezes. (using the first structure)
Food freezes if you put it into the freezer. (using the second structure)
From the two examples above, we can see that the clause if you put food into the freezer is a prerequisite for the next clause, namely food freezes / it freezes to occur.
