     EXPOSITION TEXT

 

Exposition Text is divided into two, namely Hortatory Exposition and Analytical Exposition.

√ Hortatory Exposition
   Hortatory exposition is a type of exposition text that begins with a statement containing the problem / issue as the theme of the writing, then supported by various arguments / statements and supporting evidence that can lead the reader to the author's point of view and closes with suggestions or recommendations from the author what should have been done or happened in relation to the problem or issue presented at the outset.

√ Analytical Exposition
   Analytical exposition is a type of exposition text that begins with a statement that shows the attitude, opinion, statement or position of the author on the theme being discussed which is then supported by various arguments and closes with an affirmation or restatement of the opinion stated at the beginning.



 • Examples of Exposition Texts are :

   ✓ Legal Defenses

   ✓ Speeches/Lectures

   ✓ Letters

   ✓ Editorials

   ✓ Political Leaflets

   ✓ Essays


An exposition text needs to :

1. Clearly state the point of view

2. Use valid research findings to support your viewpoint

3. Defend your viewpoint

4. Support the viewpoint with factual data like graphs, pictures, charts.




















Exposition Text Example:

Cars and Accidents

Car is the most popular transportation. However, there are many different causes of car accidents in streets.
Sometimes accidents are caused by bad weather. Ice or snow can make toads very dangerous. Accidents also can result from problems with the car.

Even a small problem like a flat tire can be serious. Bad roads are another cause of accidents.
Some accidents are caused by drinking too much alcohol.

Knowing some factor causing accident is extremely important to prevent accident while driving.

TYPE THREE

 Type 3 Conditional In type 3 conditional sentences, the tense in the if clause is the past perfect and the tense in the main clause is the perfect conditional or perfect continuous conditional. If clause (condition) Main clause (result / effect) If + past perfect perfect conditional or perfect continuous conditional If this thing had happened that thing would have happened. EXAMPLE If it had rained, you would have gotten wet. You would have gotten wet if it had rained. You would have passed your exam if you had worked harder. If you had worked harder, you would have passed your exam. I would have believed you if you hadn't lied to me before. If you hadn't lied to me before, I would have believed you. Function Type 3 conditionals refer to past probable conditions and possible past outcomes. In type 3 conditional sentences, the time is past and the situation is presupposed or not real.
